Introduction
The workshop focuses on “continuous delivery/Devops” and “software development in the cloud”.
Continuous Delivery is an automated process that accelerates the release of software and digital services. It is a revolutionary and scalable agile methodology that enables any team, including teams within enterprise IT organizations, to achieve rapid, reliable releases through better collaboration between developers, testers, DBAs and operations, and automation of the build, deploy, test and release process. Continuous delivery is associated with a methodology called DevOps, which calls for close collaboration between the traditionally distinct disciplines of development, and operations (IT).
Software development in the cloud: Since the products and services base on cloud computing will be more and more popular, there might be revolutionary changes to the development methods, environment as well as programming languages. How would new development models (like open source community, social network, new parallel languages) and methods (like SOA, Mashup, Integranova, T-VEC) bring great impact on software productivity?
Scope and Topics
The objective of this workshop is to invite high-quality papers presenting experiments, surveys, approaches, techniques, and tools related to future software development. The topics of interest include, but are not restricted to the following:
•Continuous delivery for large-scale software or systems
•Practices for effective DevOps/Best DevOps practices
•Software development innovations (methods, tools, and languages) in cloud computing era
•Innovative software development practices (such as software architecture, cloud computing, and etc.)
Submission Guidelines
Submit your paper(s) in PDF file at the FSE2014 submission site. All submissions must be original work, and must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (see also ACM policy and procedures with respect to plagiarism). Papers must be submitted as PDF and strictly adhere to the ACM proceedings format.
Three types of submissions are possible: short position papers (up to 5 pages) and long research and industrial papers (up to 10 pages).
Position papers may present wild and speculative ideas, and will be judged on the potential to generate interesting discussions at the workshop.
Research papers should describe innovative research, while industrial papers may describe the application or adaptation of known solutions to industrial case studies, and reflect on lessons learnt.
Papers must not exceed the indicated number of pages (long papers, 10 pages; short papers, 5 pages) in this format, including all text, references, appendices, and figures (submissions exceeding the page limits will be rejected by the PC Chairs without review).
Publications
All accepted papers will be published by ACM as a companion volume of the FSE 2014 conference proceedings, and made available in the ACM Digital Library.
